The Mind of Game
First off, I’d like to thank the folks at Headphones.com.
A couple of weeks ago, I spotted a contest on Head-Fi for a pair of Creative Aurvana In-Ear 3 asking entrants to creatively describe the best headphones they’ve heard at the $150 price point or under. Seeing as the HiFiMan RE-262s are the best sounding in ear monitors I’ve heard period, regardless of price point, I went with them. Here’s my winning entry.
In the $150 and under category, no earphone has quite filled my ears with auditory nirvana quite like my HiFiMan RE-262s. Each note these things present is done with such grace and poise that it makes me question why on Earth HiFiMan is selling them for such little money. These are not analytical or focused on neutrality and it doesn’t have to be. The polite but weighty bass response, the wide and deep sound stage, the delicate and non-fatiguing highs and, above all, the buttery smooth mids are unlike anything I’ve ever heard in an IEM thus far.
Okay, you know what? Forget all the audiophile-ese. These are an exceptional pair of IEMs that bring a smile to my face every time I listen to them. The RE-262s are just Hi-Fi, man.
And I’ll see myself out for that terrible pun.
Pretty creative, eh? Well, as I said, that entry landed me a pair of Creative Aurvana In-Ear 3 earphones, which I received earlier today. I haven’t listened to them for a very long time (I’m actually listening to them as I type this) but I’m enjoying them quite a bit thus far. I’m not going to get very far into my impressions but I will say that they are well balanced, fairly neutral in response and mostly laid-back. These seem like the kind of IEMs you can listen to for hours at a time. Listening to D’Angelo’s “Alright” really brings out the smooth, laid-back character they possess, complimenting the jazzy beat and vocals very well.
I’ll be reviewing these soon, after I take care of a couple of other reviews and finish up my classes for this semester.
